It is equally important to have information submitted on Leonbergers without any known health issues as it is to submit information on Leos with health issues. All dogs should be entered (even young puppies as long as they are registered and have left their breeder). The criteria for submission is:
1. Information should be provided only by the owner of the Leonberger.
2. The Leonberger must be registered (any recognized registering authority is allowed, e.g. AKC, LCA, FCI, etc.).
3. Submit information for all Leonbergers, living or deceased, regardless of age. If information was submitted in a prior LCA Health Education Committee survey (in 1995, 2000 or 2005) and the Leonberger was deceased before the prior submission, you do not need to resubmit. However, if you, as the owner, did not provide permission for publication of health information on a particular Leo, and you would like the information published, please complete this survey.
We recommend that you review a copy of the survey here. It will be helpful to you to print the survey and fill it out in hard copy. Reference documents to have on hand include: pedigree, registration papers, vaccination records, testing records and results, medication and supplement names and dosages, notes on treatments received, etc. It is equally important to have information submitted on Leonbergers without any known health issues as it is to submit information on Leos with health issues. Provide Samples We have a list of researchers and facilities in need of samples to further research into the diseases that affect our Leonberger companions. They need samples from both healthy Leonbergers and those diagnosed with specific diseases. For more information, please refer to the Provide Samples page.
